Rights serve as rules of interaction between people, and, as such, they place constraints and obligations upon the actions of individuals or groups.

Societal rights are bestowed to its citizenry by society and are a set of obligations that are… Continue

"The Emergence of a New Global Culture in the Imagination Age" by Rita J. King

When you spend as much time as I do reading through what's written about the metaverse everyday, you sometimes get a bit down about what you see day after day. Invariably it's the same article written time and again and typically it includes the "I have a first life, I don't need a Second" refrain from the journalist who probably has never set virtual foot in a virtual world. Sometimes you see writing that recognizes the potential of virtual worlds. Only very rarely, in my opinion, do you see… Continue

I adore the world of texture creation

My passion in virtual worlds all starts with a great desire to create. My need to create art has led me on a journey to manipulate imagery and create art using GIMP, Texture maker and Photo Shop. I am most at home with Texture Maker and GIMP2. I am also a gizmo and gadget geek so as devices make themselves know to me I play with them.

I imported some Tuna Textures today. I hope you enjoy them there will be plenty more in weeks to come. If you want to see the stuff I do to really turn… Continue

Happy to finally feel at home

I am not a big blogger, I tend to do and be more than I write about doing and being! I have to let you know that i am happy I am here and having the time of my life. I feel that I have been waiting my whole life to be right where i am now doing exactly what I am doing. I am grateful to be a part of what i believe is the future of communication and will change and improve the world that we know.

Personal/Corporate Virtual Worlds

There is a growing trend toward more personalized virtual worlds. There are several reasons for this:

1.) Greater control of the environment (Users, access)

2.) Data security

3.) Usability

4.) Reliability

5.) Focus

Currently, Second Life is not on the best vector for addressing some of these issues although it still remains a good platform for public facing initiatives, community building, and customer “friendly” interaction.

Corporate use… Continue

Second Life Machinima-Film

I attended a pre-screening with Myth Guyot this past Friday, he and fellow second life resident Laksmi Giha are now presenting only in Second Life, "Walk to Elea!" a Machinima-Film. The film connects Plato's "allegory of the cave" and the idea of life itself. The concepts of "being and existance" and the search for personal reality are explored in the film as the two characters enter a maze from different sides and find each other in the middle.slurl http://slurl.com/secondlife/Jewel/102/243/671

How many Avatars do you have?

The other day I asked "How many Avatars do you have?" I was also curious what these avatars are used for. The forum is still running so head over there if you want to reply too.

I looked through the replies and saw some interesting trends. For SL, the average number of avatars is between two and three per person. For IMVU it is even higher (much higher if you include the person with… Continue

IMVU gives me Tourette's

I'm so fucking angry and frustrated right now.

It is becoming harder and harder to make shit for IMVU.

I just spent 20 minutes of my busy life trying to find some male IMVU shoes to derive from.

I'm so angry and frustrated that I'm practically in tears. My neck stiffened up so bad now that I can't turn my head, my back is in knots from my stress level skyrocketing.

It gets harder and harder to create content for IMVU. I'm seriously considering moving on to SL or… Continue
