Hi Erica, yes I am using Second Life for work. First of all I am a consultant to businesses on virtual world presence and I am also a reseller of virtual reality systems for a Belgium company called de pinxi. I have also been teaching digital design students in SL; and held a simultaneous conference; business meetings etc. I am currently working on a marketing project to attract international students to New Zealand using SL.
I think it is interesting the way you might speak to someone in SL for an extended period of time, yet conversely be reasonably short on the phone. I wonder if there has been any research done on that? I think VWs also give you the opportunity for serendipitous conversations - this can spark innovative ideas and creative collaboration - the virtual water cooler concept - these are the subject of my PhD.

Hi Pete. Thanks for your comment about my blog posts during MetaverseU. Are you using virtual worlds to get work done?
