Welcome

For all you newcomers to virtual worlds, a warm welcome. Thanks for joining us. We at the Association, for various reasons, are here because we are interested in the medium known as "virtual worlds."

What are virtual worlds?
What are the differences between virtual worlds?
What should I be doing in virtual worlds?
What shouldn't I be doing in virtual worlds?
How do I get "there"?
And once I'm there, what do I do?

Join this group, post a question, start a discussion, and I assure you, you'll get answers galore. For an immediate response to your questions, please contact Dave Elchoness, Executive Director.

Hello. I wish to turn off the ability for my profile to show up in search engine searches, and I can find no way to do this via the privacy settings. Am I overlooking the function? If I cannot hide the profile from search engines, I would like to remove my profile completely, but I also cannot find a way to do this. Could someone please advise?

Thank you and best wishes.

Hi there,

I am trying to upload a pp, but non of the categories let me do it.
I will convert my video into virtual world and merge the pp into it.

Do you think I can do it, or any suggestion for me to follow?

Thank you,
Zuhal

Hal, take a look at OpenSim, which is opensource and will let you have a private VR server. It is well documented. CentralGrid is one of many grids it can be connected to - see the Grids tab on the homepage, which is here:
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page
It will run on most platforms (I prefer Linux, but Windows is an option)

Hello.. Its been years since I play round with VR applications and it has come a long way. I am looking for a opensource client and server solution to experement. What is the role of CentralGrid ? Can I have a "private" VR server ? What tools do you recommend to get started ?

Thanks
Hal
