Hi everyone, I must apologize for not being active with this group thus far. I'm hoping to change that!
Now that we have a bit of a membership built up, I would love to hear from each of you about your interests and experiences designing instruction in virtual worlds.
As for me, I have been working in Second Life for 2 years now (wow, it's almost Silver's 2nd rez day!) and the experience has changed the course of my professional career. I began with an internship through the Center for Instructional and Learning Technologies at the University of North Dakota, where I examined SL as a tool for higher ed. From there, I took a teaching and learning in SL course with Boise State, and now I have the honor and privilege of working with the MUVErs, LLC group designing instruction.
I look forward to hearing all of your experiences and beginning a rich discussion on ID in VWs!
I am bad! I have been on site several times and just did not have the time to enter a resonse. I am well versed in Instructional Deisgn concepts and think the virtual environment is the greatest place to design instruction. However, I work in a place that does test development. They are just beginning to get into the simulation aspect and very few are familiar with the virtual environment as an option.
I have been a member of Second Life and putter around in it, but now I have a real need to get into things and my hands dirty creating an environment for an interactive learning styles environment. RIght now, I am creating the paths in PowerPoint so I can then develop it into a walking tour type scenario.
