I'm Lost in a Virtual Decision. Please Help!

Hi,

I wish to setup a virtual meeting every week at a set day and time for approximately 30 people where we will review a YouTube video and chat about the video together. Here is my conclusion:

1) SL I must purchase land, then build a conference room, add furniture etc. Long, long learning curve. Monthly fee. Not sure if I can "rent" a conference room every week and change the video before each meeting.

2) Lively: Best option. Very easy to create room add video. Completely free. I hate the cartoonish avatars. Looks cheap.

3) IMVU. No idea if you can create a conference room.

4) Yahoo chat. Best option supporting video. Not a virtual world.

Why is this so hard - can anyone suggest an option?

Three places I can think of in addition,

Kaneva is one, but that also requires spending some money.

The other two are site that I own.

http://3djay.com - its a music oriented site, but if your users are ning members (this is a ning site), then they can log in using their existing Ning ids ( it does require you asking that your group being added to our list of support site ). However you can immediately go to your apartment and setup a video monitor to play youtube videos. Documentation on site.

I am glad to hear that you are looking for places other then SL. But I will save that rant for another time. Our avatars have been created with business needs in mind.
