Association of Virtual Worlds

The Business & Social Network

I've heard talk about "alts" and "fragments" and "backups" . An alt is an alternate avatar. a "fragment" (as I understand it) is an avatar that represents just a piece of yourself. I've also heard some people keep another avatar around to save their stuff. I've got three avatars that I use but have created at least six in SL over the years.

So how many avatars do you have and how do you use them?

I have 2, I'm very boring LOL

I have the one you see in my pic & a male one for male products & I only use him very rarely as I can't use both at the same time (something I didn't find out until after I'd bought him & tried to use both avi's to show the poses on a product>_br />
So he sits gathering dust in my inventory mostly
I have two avatars in Second Life - but use only one most of the time. Using two avatars may help to coordinate events - use one to moderate and the other to watch the scene.
eek! do I really have enough courage to answer this?
come on gal out yourself bwaaa haa haaaa
Two on IMVU... No wait... *counts up female avs and adds on the accounts he hasn't logged on in a while* Ahh 5 x]
Hi, I have two. One of them (AureA Memotech) is my virtual identitiy into Virtual Worlds 3D, although I'm waiting for the time when one avatar will be able to be in differents virtual Worlds, AureA Memotech is just in SL.

Then, I have another one (ruty Martinek) just for being representative in my last book about SL "eXprime Second Life" Editorial Anaya Multimedia. So, she is like a journalist and just in case I need another identity
Oh dear, where to begin?? Its best to say they all evolve in time, but currently 3 on IMVU and 2 on SL
I have three avatars I use regularly. One is dedicated to the site in SL that I built for my city. (She was my first and I decided to make another so I could go off exploring. I figured if I did it with the "city avatar" a resident of our town might be upset with me that I was off dancing with an avatar that was supposed to be a representative of my city government.) That avatar maintains the city area and meets with residents of our city at the SL site - no dancing allowed.

Another is dedicated to the magazine so that the items and objects associated with publishing the magazine stay with her. The avatar in my photo is another and is used for everything else including running Public Works island (and dancing). I find that having the three also helps me with group memberships and organizing inventory. (Sometimes I like to think of them as file cabinets.)

I did make a couple others when I was testing my registration page and may sign in with them occasionally but not very often.
Two in SL.
mkay.
i am drinking beer so i have courage.

"hello, my name is Lynn and i am a virtual world addict"

"hello Lynn"

"i have 6 accounts on IMVU, altho only 2 are noticeably active, i have 1 account on SecondLife, i have 1 account on Twinity, i have 1 account (which was to poke my nose in and be nosey) on Xivio, i have 1 account on Kaneva, i think i have an account on RedLight...but that place made me giggle. there are more, but they are obviously forgotten since i can't list them."

"Lynn, you are very brave."

"thank you, can i sit down now?"
I have one account with a female and a male avatar on IMVU. I use the male avatar for catalog pictures of my male clothing products. I have one avatar on SL, one on There.com and one on Red Light. I'm exploring other possibilities for content creation opportunities.
1 on SL, 1 on There, 1 on OpenLife, 1 in Entropia, 1 on WoW and 1 on ActiveWorlds. plus, a bunch of corpses piled on during the years... some of them gets reanimated from time to time, like the Anarchy OnLine fella
